Job summary

Principal Financial Group in Chicago seeks an Assistant Director of Engineering to lead the Digital Experience team within Asset Management. You will guide an engineering group building client-facing web experiences and digital tools for global institutional clients.

You will partner with product, marketing, and business leaders to set strategy, mentor engineers, and deliver scalable platforms across regions, while exploring AI-enabled enhancements to improve usability and engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a technical field.
• 8+ years of enterprise digital/technical experience with progressive responsibility.
• Formal people leadership experience and ability to build accountability.
• Strong digital/web platform delivery background.

Responsibilities

• Set strategic direction with product, marketing, and business leaders.
• Lead and inspire engineering teams across multiple agile product teams and regions.
• Translate vision into actionable initiatives aligned with client needs.
• Drive alignment across cross-functional partners for scalable digital capabilities.
• Identify and advance AI-enabled experiences to improve client engagement and scalability.
• Coach and develop engineering talent across a global team.
• Monitor digital experience trends to evolve the client platform ecosystem.
