Job summary

State of Maryland - COMP Compliance Division seeks an Assistant Director to enhance daily operations, develop and maintain SOPs, and lead cross‑divisional training. The role supports the division's COOP and conducts project work to improve efficiency and reporting.

The successful candidate will coordinate initiatives with leadership and staff across the Compliance Division. The position emphasizes governance, process improvements, and strategic oversight within an established state agency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required from an accredited college or university.
• Five (5) years of professional work experience in managing and/or directing a business operation or project(s).
• If degree obtained outside the United States, provide foreign credential evaluation per NACES guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Create, update and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for Compliance Division areas, starting with Individual Tax Collections.
• Coordinate training across the division and lead special projects and programs.
• Assist with updating the Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) to identify and reduce operational risks; prepare progress reports and drive efficiency improvements.
