Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi is seeking an Assistant Director for the Center for Math Learning and Innovative Teaching. This role leads strategic initiatives to reduce DFW rates in gateway math courses and coordinates faculty development, tutoring, and AI-powered learning tools.
Responsibilities include overseeing operations, teaching entry-level math, and building partnerships with local schools to enhance college readiness.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education.
- Six years of experience in math education or related areas.
- Advanced degrees may substitute for experience.
- Leadership and supervisory experience in academic settings.
- Experience with curriculum development and tutoring services.
- Familiarity with innovative teaching pedagogy and program assessment.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to student success and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the Center’s vision, mission, and annual goals.
- Oversee daily operations of the Center and supervise staff.
- Lead the annual faculty development bootcamp for gateway math courses.
- Coordinate tutoring and AI-supported learning tools and initiatives.
- Coordinate delivery of entry-level math courses and ensure consistent outcomes.
- Teach entry-level math courses and mentor new instructors.
- Collaborate with K–12 partners to strengthen readiness for college math.
