Job summary

Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas seeks an Assistant Director of Student Engagement & Belonging to provide strategic leadership for campus-wide engagement initiatives. You will oversee leadership development, service opportunities, and partnerships that enhance student belonging and success.

The role advises the Campus Activities Board, coordinates outreach, and promotes engagement across student populations. A Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years in student activities are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field or combination of education and experience.
• Four (4) years of professional experience in management of Student Activities programs.
• Experience planning and facilitating campus-wide events, Homecoming and Welcome Week activities, leadership training, and community service activities.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, analytical, critical thinking, and organizational skills, ability to work in a high energy, flexible team environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and execute events of varying scales (campus traditions, leadership development, service opportunities).
• Supervise student staff and volunteers assisting with events.
• Create and maintain programming calendars and engagement opportunities.
• Collaborate with academic leaders for cross-divisional learning outcomes.
• Engage in marketing and promotional efforts to boost participation.
• Conduct assessments to improve event planning, leadership curriculum, and program effectiveness.
• Handle inquiries via email/phone regarding student activities and events.
• Work nights and weekends as needed.
