Living Cities in Washington, DC seeks an Assistant Director, Board & Member Engagement to steward our board of directors and committees and to mobilize our members—foundations and financial institutions—to close the racial wealth gap. Founded in 1991, Living Cities is a collaborative of prominent foundations and financial institutions. We foster transformational relationships across sectors to connect those who are willing to do the hard work of closing racial income and wealth gaps. Together, we are partnering with cross-sector leaders in cities across the country to imagine and create an America in which all people are economically secure, building wealth, and living abundant, dignified, and connected lives. Our staff, investments, convenings, and networks support efforts that operationalize racial equity and inclusion in local government, create inclusive narratives, bring communities together to devise and act on a shared vision for the future, and eliminate inequities in systems such as entrepreneurship, homeownership, and access to capital.
The Assistant Director, Board & Member Engagement, manages our board of directors and related committees and leads efforts to leverage the combined heft of Living Cities’ members – prominent foundations and financial institutions – to close the racial wealth gap.
The goal of this role is to lead effective governance and foster collaborative spaces for shared learning, joint action, and greater influence.
The ideal candidate brings experience in the philanthropic or financial services sector and a passion for harnessing the potential of these sectors to build equitable wealth-building pathways for all Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) in US cities.
This position reports to the Chief Impact Officer (CIO), serves as a leader in the Member Engagement and Results team, and will supervise assigned staff resources.
