Job summary

The Learning Experience - Kingwood is seeking an Assistant Director with daycare or preschool experience to lead center operations and support teachers within a dynamic early education setting.

You will collaborate with the Center Director, coach staff, and help ensure high-quality learning experiences while maintaining licensing compliance and a welcoming environment for children and families.

Qualifications

  • Minimum one year of experience in early childhood education with leadership or supervisory duties.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
  • Knowledge of state licensing requirements and health and safety standards.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

As an Assistant Director at The Learning Experience, You Will
  • Lead by example, bringing passion, positivity, and a genuine commitment to making a difference in the lives of children, families, and employees. Build trusting relationships and foster a welcoming, inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and supported.
  • Partner closely with the Center Director to support the day-to-day operations of the center, helping ensure a safe, organized, and high-quality environment for children, families, and staff.
  • Engage, coach, and develop staff by building strong relationships, providing ongoing support, and creating opportunities for professional growth. Help new team members feel welcomed and confident through effective onboarding, training, and mentorship.
  • Support teacher success in the classroom by helping educators implement our proprietary curriculum with confidence and consistency. Provide encouragement, modeling, and constructive feedback while helping teachers create fun, engaging, and enriching learning experiences for children.
  • Promote a strong culture of teamwork and accountability by recognizing employee contributions, addressing challenges proactively, and helping create an environment where staff feel motivated, connected, and empowered to do their best work.
  • Assist with staffing and employee engagement, including participating in interviews, onboarding, scheduling, training, and ongoing staff development. Work alongside the Director to identify staffing needs and help build and retain a strong, qualified team.
  • Help maintain high standards for health, safety, and licensing compliance by supporting daily center procedures, monitoring classroom environments, and ensuring policies and standard operating procedures are consistently followed.
  • Build positive relationships with children and families, serving as a welcoming and dependable resource for questions, concerns, and day-to-day communication. Support the Director in creating a family experience that encourages trust, connection, and retention.
  • Support enrollment and community engagement efforts by participating in family tours, events, and community outreach initiatives. Help showcase the value of the TLE experience and contribute to creating a strong connection between the center and its community.
  • Step in as a leader when needed, providing consistency and support for the team and center in the Director's absence while keeping the Director informed and aligned on important operational, staffing, and family matters.
  • Have at least one year of experience in early childhood education, with leadership, supervisory, coaching, or team-support experience highly preferred.
  • Have a genuine passion for supporting teachers and developing strong teams, with the ability to build trust, provide encouragement, and help employees grow professionally.
  • Meet state-specific requirements for an Assistant Director or administrative role, including any required credentials, qualifications, or experience.
  • Possess an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child Development, or a related field (highly preferred).
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of early childhood best practices, classroom environments, and child development, with a commitment to supporting high-quality learning experiences.
  • Have working knowledge of state licensing requirements, health and safety standards, and center policies, with a commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant environment.
  • Are an organized, positive, and dependable leader who communicates effectively, collaborates well with the Center Director, and is comfortable stepping into a leadership role when needed.
