FullTime Management Findlay, OH, US

Salary Range: $40,000.00 To $45,000.00 Annually

The Assistant Director supports the Center Director in the daily operations of the child care center while helping to create a safe, nurturing, and high-quality learning environment for children, families, and staff. This leadership role requires strong organizational skills, effective communication, teamwork, and a commitment to maintaining compliance with all state licensing regulations and company policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership & Staff Support
  • Assist with the recruitment, onboarding, training, mentoring, and supervision of staff.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and professional work environment.
  • Assist with staff scheduling, classroom coverage, and daily operational needs.
  • Support staff through coaching, feedback, and professional development opportunities.
  • Conduct classroom observations and assist with performance evaluations as directed by the Center Director.
Program Quality & Curriculum
  • Support the implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum and classroom activities.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to ensure curriculum aligns with state standards and the developmental needs of each child.
  • Promote high-quality teaching practices and continuous program improvement.
Licensing, Compliance & Safety
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with all Ohio Department of Children and Youth (DCY) licensing regulations, Step Up To Quality standards, and company policies.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections of classrooms, playgrounds, and the facility.
  • Ensure appropriate staff-to-child ratios are maintained throughout the day.
  • Support emergency preparedness procedures and maintain a safe environment for children and staff.
Family Engagement
  • Build positive relationships with families through professional and respectful communication.
  • Address parent questions and concerns promptly and appropriately.
  • Assist with conferences, family events, tours, and enrollment meetings.
  • Promote a welcoming environment that supports family engagement and satisfaction.
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Assist with maintaining accurate child and employee records.
  • Support enrollment, attendance, tuition, and other administrative functions.
  • Help prepare reports, licensing documentation, and required company paperwork.
  • Assist with budget awareness by monitoring supplies and operational expenses.
Facility Operations
  • Help ensure the center is clean, organized, safe, and well-maintained.
  • Coordinate facility maintenance requests and follow up on repairs.
  • Monitor classroom materials, supplies, and equipment to ensure they are stocked and in good working order.
  • Assist in maintaining an attractive and welcoming environment for children and families.
  • Support compliance with health, sanitation, and nutrition requirements.
  • Assist with illness and injury protocols, medication procedures, and health documentation.
  • Promote healthy practices that ensure the well-being of children and staff.
Enrollment & Community Relations
  • Assist with enrollment efforts by conducting tours for prospective families and supporting marketing initiatives.
  • Represent the center professionally within the community.
  • Help maintain strong enrollment through exceptional customer service.
Teamwork & Problem Solving
  • Serve as a resource for staff by helping resolve concerns and supporting effective communication.
  • Assist in resolving conflicts involving staff, families, or children in accordance with company policies.
  • Step into classrooms as needed to maintain quality care and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead by example by demonstrating professionalism, flexibility, and a willingness to support all areas of the center.

The Assistant Director is expected to be an active, visible leader who supports both the administrative and classroom functions of the center. This position requires flexibility, initiative, and a team-first mindset. Success in this role means being willing to assist wherever needed to ensure the center operates efficiently and children receive exceptional care every day.

Other duties may be assigned based on the operational needs of the center or the direction of the Center Director or Executive Leadership.
