Job summary

Elgin Community College seeks an experienced academic leader to drive faculty development, student learning assessment, and instructional quality within CETAL. The Assistant Dean collaborates with the Associate Dean to plan and sustain programs, workshops, and consultations.

You will champion campus-wide teaching initiatives, contribute to research on learning, and mentor faculty. This exempt, full-time role offers a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth at ECC.

Qualifications

• Masters degree in teaching/learning with classroom teaching experience at college level.
• Scholarly knowledge of instructional design, assessment practices, and inclusive pedagogies.
• Experience in outcomes assessment methods and best practices.
• Coaching and mentoring strategies with faculty.
• Ability to create and lead professional learning opportunities for diverse audiences.
• Experience with instructional technologies and course management systems.
• Strong interpersonal skills across diverse populations.
• Strong organizational skills to meet deadlines with attention to detail.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience in planning, development, and management of projects.

Responsibilities

• Plan, sustain, and assess CETAL programs and initiatives supporting teaching excellence.
• Develop, deliver, and evaluate CETAL sessions such as workshops and orientations.
• Create and maintain on-demand teaching resources and communications.
• Lead efforts to enhance campus visibility and external partnerships for CETAL.
• Collaborate on college-wide teaching and learning initiatives and committees.
• Assist faculty on teaching-related matters and support promotion processes.
• Maintain required training and certifications, ensuring compliance.
• Uphold confidentiality and privacy; respect diverse populations.
• Adhere to attendance and punctuality standards.
