This 12-month EHRA leave-earning position focuses on early intervention, coordination of care, and collaboration with campus partners.

The role requires a master's degree and at least five years of relevant experience in higher education student wellbeing, with strong teamwork, prioritization, and crisis

Qualifications

  • Relevant Master's degree required; for candidates demonstrating comparable independent educational or instructional activities associated with the delivery and/or management of student support functions, will accept a relevant undergraduate degree and relevant experience in substitution.
  • Minimum of 5 years post-master's full-time experience in higher education or similar setting where the applicant contributes to student wellbeing and success within a higher education setting.
  • Successful candidates must have the ability to work effectively in teams and individually in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to prioritize work appropriately and adapt quickly to changing priorities as well as work independently on multiple tasks and deal effectively with conflicting priorities.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices around diversity, inclusion, and other related topics, student case management, crisis management, student conduct and familiarity with restorative justice and other related practices.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to present and facilitate training. Candidates must have a willingness to work some evenings and weekends.

Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit The mission of the Dean of Students Office is to initiate learner-centered programs and services that foster a culture of care conducive to academic and personal development.

Position Summary This Assistant Dean of Students (Case Manager) position is primarily responsible for the case management and outreach functions of both the Behavioral Assessment Team BAT and the Erase Hate campaign. The multidisciplinary Behavioral Assessment Team focuses on early intervention strategies for students who may be at risk of harming themselves or pose a significant disruption to the living, learning, or work environment. This position serves on the Behavioral Assessment Team and is responsible for managing case intake information, engaging in ongoing case evaluations, coordinating follow-up with active and inactive cases, providing updates regarding concerning and disruptive behavior, soliciting pertinent information from campus partners to support informed decision making, and maintaining continuity of care across service providers.

  • Experience handling confidential and sensitive information and situations with diplomacy, exercising excellent judgment that is congruent with federal, state, and university policy.
  • Superior critical thinking and organization skills and experience developing and administering assessment tools.
