C2 client, a global leader in high-performance marine and safety equipment, seeks a full-time Assistant Creative Director / Copywriter to join their internal creative team. With a 50+ year legacy of innovation spanning Olympic sailing, the America’s Cup, and cutting-edge industrial safety and rescue solutions, the company continues to chart new territory. This role is ideal for a skilled writer who thrives on curiosity, collaboration, and converting technical insights into compelling, brand-aligned storytelling. Candidates with a passion for sailing, water sports, or water safety are strongly preferred.

Start Date: As soon as the right person is identified
Duration: Full-time, direct hire
Location: Pewaukee, WI – onsite preferred
Compensation: Commensurate with experience and qualifications

Job Objective:

Our client seeks a curious mind who can contribute to the word space within their inside agency, to concept, and then realize ideas that become respected business assets, deploying them them for print, digital, video, and social media formats. The ideal candidate will develop engaging content, including advertising, targeting the client's marine and industrial users. Journalism or agency experience preferred. A background in sailing is helpful, but the ability to learn about idiosyncratic, technical products and their users is even more important.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver words supporting a wide variety of marketing communications projects
  • Self-start. Don’t wait, investigate
  • Love and understand the client's brand and its voice.
  • Communicate what is most important to users about the client
  • Consistently ideate concepts that advance those strategies
  • Effectively pitch those concepts
  • Create the voice for the concepts that get approved
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with the creative team and with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Be relentless about detail
  • Deliver on time
  • Be able to take friendly suggestions in stride. Understand there is always a mutually acceptable solution and it is a creative person’s obligation to drive to it

Requirements:

  • Reporter’s mindset that seeks to understand what audiences need to know and how to create it
  • BA in Marketing, Journalism, Business or Communications
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with a portfolio of samples to which you can bring context, illustrating your craft
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills
  • Ability to create concepts working both independently and in a collaborative setting
  • Exceptional time and project management skills, including the ability to handle multiple stakeholders and subtly different priorities
  • MS Word, PPT, experience with Content Management Systems a plus
  • Scripting for video, including dialogue, also a plus
  • Hands-on experience with SEO and web traffic metrics
  • Expertise in social media platforms
