Job summary

The Bolton Group in Montgomery County, Maryland, is seeking an experienced Assistant Corporate Controller to join its corporate accounting team. This high-visibility leadership role reports to the VP & Corporate Controller and oversees corporate and division accounting operations, talent development, and process improvement.

You will drive the period-end close, general ledger, and financial reporting while strengthening internal controls.

Qualifications

• Active CPA license is required and professional accounting credentials are essential.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, period-end close, and financial reporting.
• Eight+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership responsibilities.
• Experience with a Big 4 or top public accounting firm is preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited institution.
• Demonstrated experience supervising, mentoring, and reviewing accounting staff.
• Homebuilding, real estate, or construction industry experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and develop Senior and Staff Accountants through ongoing guidance and performance reviews.
• Oversee period-end close activities, general ledger responsibilities, and financial reporting deliverables.
• Review financial results, investigate significant fluctuations, and ensure accurate, well-supported reporting.
• Identify opportunities to standardize workflows, automate processes, and improve reporting.
• Maintain and enhance accounting policies, procedures, process documentation, and internal controls.
• Partner with corporate and division accounting teams, finance leadership, auditors, and stakeholders to align priorities.
• Support audits, regulatory filings, accounting research, system enhancements, and related initiatives.
