Job summary

The Bolton Group, a growing commercial real estate investment and management company in Charleston, SC, is seeking an Assistant Controller to join its expanding accounting and finance team. Reporting to the Controller, this role will strengthen accounting processes, improve internal controls, and support financial reporting across a multi-entity organization.

Qualifications

• CPA preferred or actively pursuing CPA.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance.
• 5+ years progressive accounting experience.
• Commercial real estate or property accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
• Experience with month-end close, GL maintenance, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Experience across multiple entities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger across multiple entities and ensure accurate reporting.
• Perform month-end and year-end close, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Prepare GAAP-based monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Manage intercompany reconciliations, intercompany cost allocations.
• Coordinate payroll accounting and related entries.
• Track commission payments and other accounting transactions.
• Assist with audits, tax filings, and compliance.
• Develop SOPs to improve controls and consistency.
• Identify workflow improvements to reduce manual processes.
• Collaborate with property management, leasing, development, and operations.
