Job summary

Kahala Nui in Honolulu, HI is seeking an Assistant Cook to support kitchen operations for residents at our private restaurant. The role prepares cold items, supports the culinary team, and helps maintain safety and quality standards while serving residents with care.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, 6 months prep cook experience, TB clearance, and ability to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays. Benefits include medical, dental, parking, and PTO.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 6 months of prep cook experience or equivalent education/experience.
• Annual tuberculosis clearance required.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English and work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cold food items such as salads, fruits, vegetables, and sandwiches.
• Clean, rotate, and store food products properly.
• Support line cooks and coordinate meal production needs.
• Prepare meals that meet special dietary requirements.
• Monitor food quality, taste, and temperature standards.
• Maintain required food safety and sanitation documentation.
• Help train and orient new employees.
• Provide courteous service to residents and respond promptly to requests.
• Attend required training and assist with other duties as assigned.
