Job summary

Kahala Nui is seeking an Assistant Cook to support kitchen operations in its private residents' restaurant. You will prepare salads, fruits, vegetables, and sandwiches, assist line cooks, and help ensure quality, safety, and resident satisfaction in a calm, respectful environment.

The role requires at least 6 months prep cook experience, ability to follow dietary guidelines, and dependable schedules including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 6 months prep cook experience or equivalent education/experience.
• Annual tuberculosis clearance required.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English and work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cold food items such as salads, fruits, vegetables, and sandwiches.
• Clean, rotate, and store food products properly.
• Support line cooks and coordinate meal production needs.
• Prepare meals that meet special dietary requirements.
• Monitor food quality, taste, and temperature standards.
• Maintain required food safety and sanitation documentation.
• Help train and orient new employees.
• Provide courteous service to residents and respond promptly to requests.
• Attend required training and assist with other duties as assigned.
