The mission of Lake Junaluska is to be a place of Christian hospitality where lives are transformed through renewal of soul, mind and body.

Essential Functions
  • Prepares meals, using standard, approved menus in sufficient quantity and quality.
  • Cooks, prepares, and seasons soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other foodstuffs for consumption in eating establishments.
  • Assists workers engaged in preparing foods for cafeterias, hotels, restaurants, or ready‑to‑serve packages.
  • Washes, peels, and slices vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients used in salads and plate garnishes.
  • Meets specific needs of calendar and scheduled events (regular and special).
  • Operates all equipment necessary for food preparation, including convection ovens, stoves, meat slivers, choppers, knives, steamers, steam kettles, and skillets.
  • Manages time so as to complete all necessary tasks within the scheduled time.
  • Maintains product inventory efficiently to reduce product loss due to waste.
  • Reports supply needs to the immediate supervisor or director.
  • Keeps all equipment, storage areas, and work areas clean and maintained to standards set by the North Carolina Department of Health.
  • Wears and maintains Lake Junaluska staff uniform.
  • Complies with safety policies, practices and procedures; performs other duties as needed.

  • Clean, neat, and physically capable of performing all assigned duties.
  • Ability to read and write instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Applies common sense to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to prioritize multi‑task projects.
  • Manages time so as to complete necessary tasks within the scheduled time.

  • Ability to coordinate work, occasionally move about, stand, walk, handle or feel, reach, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, talk to and hear staff and customer requests, and lift or otherwise move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
