Job summary

The Good Samaritan Home of Quincy is seeking an Assistant Cook to join our team. The successful candidate will have cooking experience and the ability to organize and multi-task while preparing food in a safe, sanitary manner per current standards, guidelines, and regulations.

This full-time position runs 11:30 AM to 8:00 PM, with every other weekend required, and offers a pay range of $17.51 to $19.51 per hour plus benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience as a cook and ability to organize and multi-task.
• Ability to understand measurements and conversions.
• Ability to plan and organize work and follow recipes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare all soups, stocks, sauces; boils, braises and roast items per standardized recipes.
• Prepare and serve sauteed, fried, grilled, steamed and baked items per standardized recipes.
• Prepare or direct the preparation of all food served, following standard recipes and diet orders.
• Plan production to coordinate with meal serving hours to preserve quality and appearance.
• Determine amounts and supplies needed for daily menus and secure from storage in time for service.
• Maintain dependability and punctuality as outlined in Attendance Policy.

Responsibilities

Qualifications

• Ability to understand and following instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic
• Ability to understand measurements and conversions
• Ability to plan and organize work, to interpret instructions, recipes, specifications and standards
• Knowledge of kitchen equipment
