Assistant Controller / Senior Fund Accountant

New York City Metropolitan Area

Firm: >20b in PE Fund in Midtown, HYBRID

Compensation: Up to 300k TOTAL COMPENSATION (including bonus) depending on years of experience

Title: VP Controller or AVP Assistant Controller depending on years of experience

Base: 140-200k base

Bonus: 25-50%

A NYC based Private Equity Firm (Closed and Open ended funds) is looking to bring on a Controller OR Assistant Controller to join their team!

The ideal profile is for a candidate with 4-12+ years of experience from either a public accounting firm or from another PE or Hedge Fund.

The firm has a great track record in the industry while employing over 100 people. They have a multi-strategy approach doing credit, traditional PE, and some Venture Capital. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to have exposure to all.

Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for month end close and accuracy of fund accounting, reporting, analysis, and special projects, including developing a comprehensive understanding of products traded and processes utilized.
2. Oversee business valuations for illiquid portfolio company investments using multiple valuation techniques and update quarterly and annual valuation memos.
3. Manage the entire accounting process for two investment vehicles, including coordination of the month-end close process, daily and weekly estimate PnL reporting to the front office.
4. Take part in investor relations including reports and occasionally dealing with the investors directly as needed.
5. Monitor illiquid investment valuation models.
6. Assist deal teams on technical accounting reviews and legal diligence of current transactions and acquisitions in the pipeline.
7. Prepare capital call analysis.
8. Work directly with portfolio company CFOs on finance matters.
9. Create automation and work with IT and Consultants on automation.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience.

Profile:

Ideal profile will be someone who is a Senior Associate or Manager from public accounting or someone with 4+ years of experience from a hedge fund, private equity, mutual fund, VC, BDC, or other fund (including admins).

Base up to 200k, Bonus up to 25%-50% of base depending on years of experience.
