Job summary

American Innovations in Austin, TX, is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to oversee technical accounting and SaaS revenue recognition in a growing software company. The role partners with the CFO and Controller, driving accurate monthly close and robust internal controls in a hybrid work setting.

You will mentor junior staff, prepare audit-ready schedules, and support external audits while ensuring GAAP compliance and scalable processes for rapid growth.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in SaaS.
• CPA preferred; active or inactive status will be considered.
• Experience preparing for audits and producing PBC schedules.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Manage the close process and produce monthly, audit-ready financials.
• Drive SaaS accounting, including revenue recognition and deferred revenue.
• Lead development of PBC schedules and liaise with external auditors.
• Maintain the deferred revenue waterfall and related memos.
• Mentor junior staff and support process improvements across finance.
