Job summary

ESP Enterprises Inc. is seeking an Assistant Controller to oversee day-to-day accounting for a multi-location operation in Texas. You will report to the Controller and lead the close processes, prepare financial statements, and drive improvements across accounting and finance functions.

You will mentor teams handling AR, AP, fixed assets and GL, ensuring compliance with standards. Strong ERP and Excel skills, CPA/CMA preferred, and travel up to 15% are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• CPA or CMA designation preferred.
• 5 to 10 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
• Prior experience leading and developing accounting teams.
• Experience working within large ERP systems and financial reporting platforms.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.
• Experience with Power Platform tools such as Power BI, Power Automate, and Power Apps is a plus.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of an organization.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to support multiple locations (up to 15%).

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process.
• Manage, mentor, and develop the accounting team covering accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, and general ledger functions.
• Review accounting transactions and reporting for accuracy, compliance, and adherence to accounting standards and company policies.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, variance analyses, KPIs, forecasts, and annual budgets.
• Oversee periodic physical inventory counts and fixed asset verification across multiple locations.
• Coordinate internal and external audit activities.
• Manage commission payout processes in collaboration with payroll and operational leadership.
• Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Identify and drive process improvement initiatives across accounting, finance, and operational functions.
• Partner with operational leaders to improve financial understanding and support business decision-making.
