Job summary

The Leonardo DRS Naval Electronics business seeks an Assistant Controller to lead financial operations for the unit, bringing hands-on accounting leadership, strong controls, and experience with GAAP and government contracting.

You will partner with senior leadership to support forecasting, cost analysis, compliance, and continuous improvement, while ensuring accurate reporting across multiple sites including Johnstown, MN, Largo, FL, and the Twin Cities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting and internal controls.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, GL management, and financial analysis.
• Understanding of government regulations and reporting requirements.
• Ability to translate financial data into actionable leadership insights.

Responsibilities

• Lead accounting operations, internal controls, and financial reporting for the Naval Electronics unit.
• Prepare and review financial statements and reports on a regular cadence.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, government regulations, and company policies.
• Develop, maintain, and improve accounting processes, policies, and procedures.
• Partner with leadership on financial planning, forecasting, and performance analysis.
• Mentor staff and foster accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
