Job summary

Qualifications

• 5–8+ years of accounting experience

VP – Assistant Controller | Alternative Asset Management | NYC

I’m working with a leading alternative asset manager on a VP – Assistant Controller opportunity within its corporate accounting team.

This is a broad, hands-on role for someone who wants exposure beyond a traditional management company accounting seat. The position will work across management company accounting, investment/asset-related accounting, financial reporting and strategic projects, with significant visibility to the CFO and senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and review key components of the monthly and quarterly close
• Prepare/review journal entries and perform analytical review of financial results
• Review subsidiary and consolidated financial information
• Partner across Tax, Treasury, FP&A, Valuations and Financial Reporting
• Manage relationships with accounting teams across multiple subsidiaries
• Prepare consolidated monthly reporting for the CFO
• Lead process improvement and systems implementation initiatives
• Evaluate unusual transactions and complex accounting matters

Ideal Background

• 5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Combination of public accounting and hands-on industry/private accounting experience strongly preferred
• Alternative asset management, private equity, private credit, mortgage or broader financial services experience
• Strong understanding of management company accounting and the month-end/quarter-end close process
• Experience working in a fast-paced, lean accounting organization
• Ability to operate independently and work directly with senior leadership
• Systems implementation and/or process improvement experience is a plus
