Job summary

Aston Carter is recruiting for an Assistant Controller in Chicago, IL. This permanent, on-site role oversees the general ledger, closes, accounting systems, and reporting while ensuring GAAP compliance. The position manages payables/receivables, supports budgeting, and partners with external auditors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred.
• 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience with strong general ledger ownership.
• Public accounting experience a plus; experience with large ERP systems preferred.
• Proficiency in GAAP and financial reporting; strong Excel and MS Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and maintain all aspects of the general ledger for accuracy and completeness.
• Manage full cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable and resolve issues.
• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Review and reconcile bank statements; monitor cash flow activity.
• Prepare and review financial statements and management reports.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with auditors and support audit preparation.
• Mentor accounting staff and support cross-functional teams.
