Job summary

Humanscale is seeking an Assistant Controller to join our finance team in Piscataway, NJ. You will own month-end and year-end close processes, review journal entries, and drive balance sheet integrity with a focus on internal controls and audits.

Lead AP, AR, and GL activities, escalate complex issues, and push for process improvements. This role requires at least 5 years of accounting experience and a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business equivalent.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in accounting or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business equivalent.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
• Root cause analysis and continuous improvement mindset.
• Onsite in Piscataway office at minimum 3 days per week.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules prior to Controller sign-off.
• Maintain balance sheet integrity, ensuring reconciliations are complete and understood.
• Provide day-to-day leadership across AP, AR, and General Ledger teams.
• Act as first point of escalation for accounting issues and resolve complex items.
• Ensure adherence to internal controls and accounting policies; support audits.
• Identify and implement process improvements across accounting operations.
• Collaborate with FP&A and Operations to ensure accurate financial data.
• Serve as deputy to the Accounting Controller when needed; assist strategic initiatives.
