Job summary

Progressive Staffing LLC in Niagara Falls, NY seeks an Assistant Controller to join a local construction company. You will supervise daily accounting activities, manage month-end close, and provide detailed financial analysis to support project performance.

The role requires 5+ years in accounting within construction, AIA experience preferred, and a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance. This is a full-time, 100% in-office position with a salary of $100,000–$115,000 plus annual performance bonus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of accounting experience in construction or related industry.
• AIA experience preferred.
• Authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship not available.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day accounting activities (AP/AR, project billings, cash applications).
• Participate in monthly close, reconciliations, and reporting deliverables.
• Prepare and review monthly journal entries including accruals and depreciation.
• Maintain project accounting records: contract status, job costs, billings, data."
• Collaborate with Project Managers to analyze job performance and revenue recognition.
• Prepare monthly billings, including AIA packages and lien waivers.
• Monitor project financial trends, identify overruns and risks to management.
• Assist in annual budgets, forecasts, and management reporting packages.
• Compile monthly financial statements with supporting schedules for decision-making.
• Manage daily cash reporting and liquidity visibility.
• Support external audits with scheduling and documentation.
• Lead and mentor accounting staff and prepare junior members for leadership.
• Enhance accounting processes for efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.
