Job summary

The Greenbrier is seeking an Assistant Controller to support the Controller in overseeing the Accounting Department and its affiliated entities on the White Sulphur Springs resort campus.

This role manages key accounting functions, supervises staff, and ensures accuracy of financial records. It contributes to month-end close, financial reporting, internal controls, and process improvements, acting as designee when needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with month-end close responsibility.
• Previous supervisory experience or readiness to lead a professional accounting team.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, account reconciliations, and internal control practices.
• Experience with multi-entity accounting, including inter company transactions.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and lookups.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day general ledger accounting operations.
• Lead portions of the month-end close and journal entries.
• Review balance sheet reconciliations.
• Oversee reconciliation of daily revenue postings to the general ledger.
• Assist with bank reconciliations, cash reporting, and cash application.
• Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
• Prepare draft financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Assist with annual audits and tax filings.
• Supervise accounting staff and serve as acting Controller when needed.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and internal controls.
