Job summary

CFS is seeking an Assistant Controller in Orlando, FL to partner with the Controller and lead accounting operations, financial reporting, and strategic initiatives in a fast-growing construction environment.

The role emphasizes strengthening internal controls, building scalable processes, and mentoring the accounting team as you prepare for broader leadership responsibilities. Onsite with a clear path to leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong background in construction accounting
• Experience leading accounting professionals
• Experience with month-end close, financial reporting, general ledger and reconciliations
• Experience supporting external audits
• Familiarity with construction ERP systems
• Strong GAAP knowledge and internal controls
• Advanced Excel skills
• Ability to work independently and cross-functionally
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations and ensure accurate financial reporting
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closes and meet reporting deadlines
• Prepare and review financial statements, journal entries, reconciliations
• Review WIP, job costing, overbillings/underbillings, and % complete accounting
• Coordinate annual audits and act as primary contact for auditors
• Analyze financial performance and advise leadership
• Collaborate with AP, Billing, Collections, and Operations to strengthen controls
• Identify automation and process-improvement opportunities
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, acquisitions and strategic finance initiatives
• Mentor accounting staff and prepare for expanded leadership
