Job summary

Cannistraro LLC is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to lead monthly closes, manage the general ledger, and oversee AP and billing activities. You will support payroll, strengthen internal controls, and drive process improvements across the accounting function.

The role demands 7+ years of accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and proficiency with CMiC ERP. Construction industry exposure is preferred. This is a hands-on leadership position in our Waltham, MA office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with hands-on month-end close and general ledger.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities with journals, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Maintain integrity of the general ledger and review job-related accounts for accurate coding.
• Oversee accounts payable and billing accounting, including cutoffs and documentation.
• Provide payroll support and understand payroll taxes, benefits, and union requirements.
• Coach accounting staff and ensure adherence to close deadlines.
• Strengthen close procedures, checklists, reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Develop Excel reporting tools and automation to reduce manual work.
• Collaborate with AP, billing, operations, and project teams to resolve issues.
