Job summary

CFS in Wisconsin is seeking an Assistant Controller to lead the month-end close, oversee cash forecasting, and drive high-quality financial reporting. You will manage a team, strengthen internal controls, and collaborate with executive leadership on budgeting and strategic initiatives.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance and 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including staff leadership in a growing organization.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience with a strong background in month-end close and financial reporting.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, and cash management.
• Experience leading, managing, and developing accounting team members.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the month-end close process and ensure financial results are completed accurately and within deadlines.
• Manage cash flow and liquidity planning, including a rolling 13-week cash forecast.
• Review journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements, and supporting analyses.
• Provide leadership to accounting personnel including AP and general accounting team members.
• Coordinate audit requirements and assist with year-end reporting and other activities.
• Oversee consolidations, intercompany transactions, fixed assets, and lease accounting.
• Strengthen internal controls and improve accounting policies and workflows.
• Partner with finance and leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Support acquisitions and integrations as the organization grows.

Responsibilities Of The Assistant Controller

• Oversee the month-end close process and ensure financial results are completed accurately and within established deadlines
• Manage cash flow and liquidity planning, including preparation and maintenance of a rolling 13-week cash forecast
• Review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, financial statements, and supporting account analyses
• Provide leadership and oversight to accounting personnel, including accounts payable and general accounting team members
• Support the preparation of accurate and timely internal and external financial reporting
• Coordinate audit requirements and assist with year-end and other financial reporting activities
• Oversee and support accounting activities related to consolidations, intercompany transactions, fixed assets, and lease accounting
• Strengthen internal controls and identify opportunities to improve accounting policies, procedures, and workflows
• Partner with finance and executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Support acquisition integrations and other strategic accounting and finance initiatives as the organization continues to grow

Qualifications For The Assistant Controller

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience with a strong background in month-end close and financial reporting
• Previous experience leading, managing, and developing accounting team members
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, and cash management
• Experience working in a growing, fast-paced, or evolving organization preferred

Compensation: $145,000–$165,000 + discretionary bonus, depending on experience
