Texas Aquastore, a premier provider in the water storage and wastewater industry, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Controller.

This role is ideal for an organized, hands‑on accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can effectively manage multiple priorities across accounting and construction project support functions. The ideal candidate is self‑directed, collaborative, and committed to supporting a growing, high-performing team.

Position Summary

The Assistant Controller will support the company’s accounting operations, financial reporting, project accounting, and compliance functions. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting construction accounting processes, and ensuring timely and accurate reporting across multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes by ensuring timely and accurate capture of expenses, vendor invoices, and employee/project time tracking to support reconciliations, financial reporting, and project cost accuracy.
• Maintain accurate financial records and support financial reporting in accordance with company policies and GAAP.
• Process and support accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice entry, payment support, collections coordination, and account reconciliations.
• Support project accounting activities, including job setup, job cost tracking, and maintenance of project financial records within the accounting system.
• Maintain vendor records, including vendor setup and ongoing updates to ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation.
• Assist with certified payroll reporting and compliance for construction projects, including preparation and required documentation.
• Assist with sales and use tax filings in the states in which we do business.
• Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for audits and internal reviews.
• Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive financial information.
• Support special projects and additional accounting or operational initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
• 2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or project-based accounting environments.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and GAAP principles.
• Experience with construction accounting, including job costing and project setup, is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with sales and use tax compliance preferred.
• Exposure to or familiarity with certified payroll reporting and compliance preferred.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft 365, especially Excel, and comfort working in ERP/accounting systems.
• High level of accuracy, organization, and accountability.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work across departments.
