Job Description:
A mutual property and casualty insurance companyis seeking an Assistant Controller to support its corporate financial services department. This fully remote position operates on Pacific Time Zone hours and focuses on premium, financialand reinsurance accounting.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and update procedures and controls related to all company financial activities.
• Prepareof internal and external financial statements, regulatory filingsand tax reports.
• Ensure compliance withcorporate standards, accounting principles, actuarial standards and relevant laws and regulations.
• Maintain accurate and accessible financial records.
• Support the development of theannual corporate budget and related cost accounting reports.
• Analyze reinsurance agreements and establish procedures to ensure accurate accounting forceded and assumed premiums, losses and commissions.
• Assist in the managing relationships with reinsurers, independent auditors and state auditors.
• Maintain professional relationships with external service providers.
• Manage interactions with credit card service providers and maintain relationships with banks, investment funds and other financial institutions.
• Monitor service performance and recommend improvements as needed.
• Assist in the collection of delinquent accounts through internal resources and external vendors.
• Supportcompany disbursements, receivables collections andthe placement of company directed investments.
• Maintain controls and safeguards for corporate financial assets.
• Analyzefinancial data and company performance to ensure alignment with corporate goals.
• Assist in cash flow forecasting and identifying opportunities for long-term investment.
• Support company tax and filings.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, accounting or business administration
• 6+ years of related experience
• 3+ years ofexperience in the property and casualty insurance industry
• Strong understanding of statutory accounting principles, taxation and audit procedures
• 2+ years ofreinsurance accounting experience
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficiencyin Microsoft Office
