We're looking for an Assistant Controller to help build and maintain the robust financial framework that drives our success. In this pivotal role, you'll go beyond the numbers, sculpting accurate balance sheets and forecasting our financial future with precision. You'll be the guardian of our financial integrity, unraveling complexities and crafting innovative solutions to ensure every transaction is accurate. Responsibilities include accounting system data reconciliation, payroll and accounting system management, maintaining accurate financial records for reporting, auditor management/oversee, and expense management.

Essential Functions

  • Assists in the preparation and analysis of financial information in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles); prepares company budgets and monitors/reports progress and status to Management.
  • Plays a key role in the inventory process; makes inventory adjustments as needed. Works with Warehouse management when it comes to monthly/yearly audits and reporting.
  • Is a key contributor to the company’s yearly, monthly, and quarterly reporting and closing responsibilities; completes reviews and presents monthly financial reports timely and accurately. Oversees and assists in the auditing process/needs of the company.
  • Manages and develops the payroll systems and policies within the organization. Ensures that all payroll reporting is accurate, and any payroll reporting submissions are being made according to both State and Federal standards and expectations.
  • Manages and develops the policies as they apply to expense management within the organization.
  • Writes and administers performance reviews to grow and develop teams. Meets with subordinates to review their performance on a regular basis, defining and explaining management’s expectations clearly
  • Reviews and approves timesheets and expenses for team members; ensures time is entered accordingly and accurately meeting all identified payroll approval deadlines.
  • Will work as a back up to the Payroll and Accounting Specialist, Accounts Payable, and Staff Accountant when necessary.
  • Manages own time and resources to achieve identified objectives; is diligent in meeting all communicated/defined deadlines. Monitors and updates tickets/tasks/activities assigned to them in company CRM.
  • Performs monthly analysis of revenue, expense, and budget variances to identify reasons for difference; prevent inaccuracies in financial statements by working with the Controller to set up internal controls.

Position Requirements

  • 5+ years accounting/payroll in construction industry required
  • Bachelors in Accounting required
  • Expert proficiency in Excel
  • Punctuality and regular attendance

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Ability to make repetitive movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers, daily
  • Ability to walk, bend, stoop, hear, and speak, daily
  • Move/Transport items weighing 20 pounds, occasionally
  • Stand or Sit for long periods (4+ hours), daily
  • Work is performed in an office environment
