Job Details

We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Controller to join our fast-paced team. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to our company's growth and success while developing your professional skills. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management, particularly in general ledger, reconciliation, audit, and grant management. The Assistant Controller will report directly to the Controller and will be responsible for various accounting and financial operations.


Responsibilities

  • Assist the Controller in managing all aspects of the company's financial operations, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk.
  • Collaborate with the Controller to enhance and implement financial procedures including cash management, budgeting, forecasting, consolidation, and management of software systems.
  • Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including designing an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.
  • Manage and reconcile all general ledger accounts and ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
  • Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions.
  • Manage and track the performance of invested assets in accordance with policies and investment guidelines.
  • Ensure grant management procedures are followed and reports are submitted in a timely manner.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A Master's degree or CPA is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in general ledger, reconciliation, audit, and grant management.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced knowledge in Excel.
  • Experience with accounting software and ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently with minimal supervision.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong leadership skills with a dedication to results-driven work.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare reports, statements, and projections.
