Salary Range: $125,000.00 To $140,000.00 Annually
Position Summary
The Assistant Controller supports the Controller in managing the organization's accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, month-end close process, and compliance requirements. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, standard cost and variance analysis, and partnering with operational teams to provide meaningful financial analysis and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and support documentation.
- Standard cost setting, job costing analysis, and variance reporting.
- Support preparation of monthly financial statements and management reporting packages.
- Analyze financial results and investigate unusual variances.
General Ledger & Balance Sheet Management
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger.
- Review balance sheet reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of outstanding items.
- Monitor accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other key accounting areas.
- Support audit requests and provide documentation as required.
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Assist in maintaining and strengthening internal control processes.
- Ensure accounting activities comply with company policies and reporting requirements.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Support internal and external audit activities.
Operational Finance Support
- Strong cost accounting to Assist with inventory accounting, job costing, and cost analysis.
- Provide financial insights to support business decisions and profitability improvement.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
Leadership
- Provide guidance and support to accounting staff.
- Serve as a backup to the Controller as needed.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
Experience
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience in manufacturing.
- Experience with month-end closing, financial reporting, and account reconciliations.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
