Job summary

V2X, Inc. in the United States is seeking an Assistant Controller to lead the Finance & Accounting team for government contracts within the Aerospace Division.

You will oversee close processes, ensure cost accuracy, and drive internal controls to support FAR/DFARS, CAS, and audit readiness. The role requires at least 8 years in accounting/finance, experience with job costing or project accounting, and collaboration with program managers to ensure contract compliance and timely reporting.

• Assist in policy development to strengthen internal controls and compliance framework.
• Support ERP implementations and process improvements (SAP/Costpoint/Unanet).
• Participate in budget development, forecasting, and trend analyses for government programs.
• Provide ad-hoc analyses to drive program profitability and financial stewardship.
• Coordinate financial data for external and internal audits.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

• The Assistant Controller is a key member of our Finance & Accounting team, responsible for comprehensive program and financial accounting for multiple government contracts within the Aerospace Division. This hands-on leadership role ensures fiscal compliance, program cost accuracy, robust internal controls, and timely reporting in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes for assigned government programs, ensuring precision in financial reporting, cost allocation, and revenue recognition (ASC 606).
• Directly supervise and mentor accounting staff responsible for program financials, and audit support.
• Prepare, review, and approve complex journal entries, account reconciliations, and schedules; ensure adherence to FAR/DFARS and CAS.
• Serve as the primary financial liaison for DCAA/DCMA auditors; coordinate audit preparation, respond to audit requests, and resolve findings.
• Collaborate closely with program managers, contracts, supply chain, and executive leadership on program performance, funding requirements, and contract compliance.
• Oversee timekeeping, labor distribution, and cost segregation processes to maintain accounting integrity and ongoing audit readiness.
• Assist in policy and procedure development to strengthen internal controls and compliance framework.
• Support and lead ERP/accounting system implementations and process enhancements (preferably SAP S4 Hanna).
• Participate in budget development, forecasting, and trending analyses for government-funded programs.
• Perform ad-hoc analysis and reporting to drive program profitability and financial stewardship.
• Coordinate preparation of financial data for external/internal audits.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained. (One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required)
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 8 years of accounting and finance experience.
  • Managing or supporting month-end and year-end close processes, general ledger maintenance, and account reconciliations.
  • Experience with job costing, project accounting, or other allocation-based financial processes (government contracting experience a plus but not required).
  • Preparing internal and external financial statements and supporting documentation.
  • Implementing and maintaining internal controls and supporting audit readiness.
  • Working with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial data and compliance with company policies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline.
• CPA
• Experience supporting major DoD, NASA, or other federal agency contracts.
• Prior Big 4 or public accounting firm experience.
• Working knowledge of revenue recognition (ASC 606) and program EVMS reporting.
• Exposure to SOX/internal controls and process improvement initiatives.
• Deep knowledge of FAR, DFARS, CAS, and DCAA/contract audit procedures.

Other Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Active security clearance or ability to obtain is a plus.

• Proficient with ERP/accounting software (Deltek Costpoint, Unanet, SAP, or similar) and advanced Excel.
