A global, systematic, multi-strategy hedge fund is seeking an Assistant Controller/Controller to oversee accounting, financial reporting, and operational control functions for its Collateralized Loan Obligation (CLO) product suite. The role sits at the intersection of fund accounting, structured credit operations, and external reporting.

Role

This is a key control point for the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of CLO-related financial information provided to internal stakeholders and external parties (investors, lenders, auditors, regulators). The role requires close, ongoing collaboration with independent trustees, fund administrators, and collateral agents.

Responsibilities

CLO Accounting & Reporting

• Oversee the full accounting lifecycle for CLO vehicles, including collateral accounting, waterfall mechanics, and compliance testing (OC/IC tests, collateral quality tests)
• Review and approve monthly/quarterly trustee reports, payment date reports, note valuation reports, and distribution waterfall/payment calculations ahead of each payment date, verifying against internal books and records
• Coordinate with trustees and administrators to reconcile collateral positions, cash activity, and NAV calculations

PnL & Management Reporting

• Review daily/monthly PnL for CLO strategies, investigating and resolving breaks between trading systems, administrator records, and trustee reports
• Prepare and review management-level financial packages summarizing CLO performance, fees, and risk/return metrics for leadership and investment teams, including attribution analysis distinguishing mark-to-market movement, realized gains/losses, and interest income/expense

External & Investor Reporting

• Prepare or review financial statements, investor letters, and capital account statements for CLO vehicles
• Serve as primary point of contact for fund administrators and trustees on accounting treatment, reporting timelines, and issue resolution
• Support external audit processes (annual audits, agreed‑upon procedures), including audit schedule preparation and responses to auditor inquiries

Controls & Process

• Maintain and strengthen internal controls over CLO financial reporting, including reconciliations between the collateral manager's books, trustee reports, and administrator NAVs
• Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities across CLO reporting workflows
• Ensure compliance with governing documents (indentures, collateral management agreements) from an accounting and reporting perspective
• Partner with Operations, Legal, and Compliance on new CLO issuances, resets, refinancing's, and wind‑downs
