Assistant Controller

Our client is seeking an Assistant Controller to join their well‑established, mission‑driven healthcare organization serving communities across the Carolinas. Essential Duties & Functions
  • Assist the Director of Finance in overseeing daily accounting operations and supporting a positive, high‑performing work environment.
  • Support month‑end close, including preparation of financial reports, reconciliations, and review of general ledger entries.
  • Supervise the Accounts Payable Administrator and Senior Cash Receipts Specialist.
  • Manage cash functions including day‑to‑day cash projections, bank reconciliations, and credit card oversight.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Prepare internal reports and analytics that highlight trends and support leadership decision‑making.
  • Support external audit processes and maintain current financial policies and procedures.
  • Facilitate training and cross‑training for accounting team members and help strengthen internal controls.
  • Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and adherence to deadlines within a fast‑paced environment.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least one year in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong overall computer proficiency.
