Job summary

Adams Dearborn is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to lead manufacturing cost accounting, pricing strategy, profitability analysis, and corporate accounting. This role partners with operations, supply chain, and leadership to drive financial performance across multiple facilities.

The successful candidate will support month-end close, ensure GAAP compliance, and drive process improvements in costing and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 5-7+ years of experience in cost accounting, manufacturing finance, or corporate accounting.
• CPA or CMA certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead manufacturing cost accounting, pricing strategy, profitability analysis, and corporate accounting.
• Manage standard costing, BOMs, inventory valuation, and overhead allocations.
• Analyze variances including labor, material usage, yields, scrap, and efficiency.
• Identify cost reduction opportunities with plant leadership.
• Support inventory controls, reconciliations, and financial accuracy.
• Assist month-end and year-end closes, including journal entries and reporting.
• Ensure internal controls and GAAP compliance; support audits and external reporting.
• Maintain data integrity across ERP and manufacturing systems.
• Develop KPI reporting and financial dashboards for leadership.

Our client, a growing manufacturing company, is seeking an experienced Assistant Controllerto lead manufacturing cost accounting, pricing strategy, profitability analysis, and corporate accounting functions. This role will partner closely with operations, supply chain, and commercial leadership to drive financial performance, improve margins, and support strategic decision-making across multiple facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Manufacturing Cost Accounting

• Manage standard costing, BOMs, inventory valuation, and manufacturing overhead allocations within the ERP system.
• Analyze manufacturing variances including labor, material usage, yields, scrap, and production efficiency.
• Partner with plant leadership to identify cost reduction and operational improvement opportunities.
• Support inventory controls, reconciliations, and financial accuracy across manufacturing locations.
• Support month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and GAAP standards.
• Support external audits and financial reporting requirements.

Systems & Reporting

• Maintain financial and operational data integrity across ERP and manufacturing systems.
• Develop KPI reporting and financial dashboards for leadership teams.
• Support process improvements, reporting automation, and ERP enhancements.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 5-7+ years of experience in cost accounting, manufacturing finance, or corporate accounting.
• CPA or CMA certification is a plus.

Additional Information:

• Daily onsite presence required in Elgin, IL.
• Occasional travel to regional manufacturing facilities may be required.
