Job summary

Red Wolf Global Logistics, a growing freight brokerage in Chicago, seeks an Assistant Controller to do the work hands-on and lead as we grow. You’ll run billing, payables, and month-end close, with ownership of commissions and agent reporting.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance, 5+ years in freight brokerage accounting, TAI TMS experience, and advanced Excel; CPA or CPA-eligibility is a plus. You’ll play a key role in our expanding team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CPA-eligible a plus).
• 5+ years of hands-on accounting experience in freight brokerage and a 3PL environment.
• Experience with billing, carrier pay, quick pay, factoring, claims, and agent commissions.
• TAI TMS experience strongly preferred, plus advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Run customer billing, cash application, and collections in TAI TMS, and resolve short pays and disputes.
• Process carrier payables, including quick pay, factoring, and freight-in-transit accruals.
• Own weekly and monthly commission settlements for our independent freight agents, including statements, chargebacks, and balance reconciliations.
• Build agent program reporting: revenue, margin, and performance by agent office.
• Track cargo claims from filing through resolution, including recoveries and chargebacks.
• Prepare entries, accruals, and reconciliations for month-end close.
• Be the point person for audits, 1099s, tax payments, and annual filings.
• Be the go-to accounting user for TAI TMS.

Red Wolf Global Logistics is a growing freight brokerage in Chicago, and we’re looking for an Assistant Controller who wants to do the work, not just manage it. Right now this role is the accounting engine behind our brokerage.

What you’ll do

• Run customer billing, cash application, and collections in TAI TMS, and resolve short pays and disputes
