Logistic Dynamics is seeking an Accounting Manager to support financial operations for a national, growing freight brokerage. You will ensure accurate financial reporting, perform month-end close, and supervise accounting activities related to motor carrier payments and transportation transactions.

  • At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience including month-end close.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP software.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in month-end and year-end close activities including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Maintain general ledger accuracy per GAAP and company policies.
  • Reconcile freight revenue, carrier costs, gross margins, and shipment activity.
  • Investigate and resolve billing, payment, and data discrepancies with ops and accounting teams.
  • Support audits, tax filings, lender reporting, and external requests.
  • Assist with cash flow management and forecasting.

This role is responsible for accurate financial reporting, account reconciliations, and oversight of accounting activity related to motor carrier payments and transportation transactions.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting skills with an ability to excel in the fast-paced, high-volume nature of freight brokerage. This position will work closely with the Controller and other members of the accounting department to assist in closing procedures, resolve transaction discrepancies, and provide reliable information for business decisions.

JOB PURPOSE

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
  • Assist in month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Maintain general ledger accuracy and ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Reconcile freight revenue, carrier costs, gross margins, and shipment-level activity between the transportation management system and accounting platform.
  • Investigate and resolve billing, payment, margin, and data discrepancies in partnership with operations and accounting teams.
  • Assist with customer and carrier account reconciliations and escalated payment issues.
  • Support annual audits, tax filings, lender reporting, and requests from external accountants.
  • Assist with cash flow management and forecasting.
  • Identify opportunities to automate accounting processes and improve data accuracy across financial and transportation systems.
  • Mentor and manage accounting team members as assigned.
  • Perform other accounting and financial duties as needed.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including responsibility for month-end close and general ledger accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced, transaction-heavy environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work across various teams within the organization. Strong interpersonal skills a must.
  • Experience with ERP or accounting software and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office suite tools.
  • Skilled in Great Plains Dynamics is a plus with experience in the transportation/logistic industry.
