Job summary

Creative Financial Staffing, LLC is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller in Boulder, CO to strengthen and scale the accounting function within a rapidly growing, private equity-backed infrastructure/construction company.

You will oversee multi-entity close, consolidate financial reporting, manage external audits, and partner with cross-functional teams to build scalable processes that support growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• CPA strongly preferred.
• 7–9 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including public accounting and external audit.
• Hands-on experience leading a team in a complex, multi-entity environment.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial statement preparation, consolidations and general ledger accounting.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly and quarterly close for a complex organization with multiple entities.
• Oversee consolidated financial reporting, intercompany transactions, and resolution of complex accounting issues.
• Manage the external audit process, liaising with the audit team to ensure timely deliverables.
• Partner with cross-functional leaders to strengthen accounting processes, controls, and reporting infrastructure.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes and build scalable solutions to support growth and acquisitions.
• Support financial reporting and analysis for executive leadership, lenders, and private equity stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate accounting for business activity and transactions.
• Support M&A, system implementations and other accounting projects as the company expands.
• Mentor and develop accounting team members, promoting accuracy and continuous improvement.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• CPA strongly preferred.
• 7-9 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including a strong foundation in public accounting and external audit.
• Hands-on experience leading a team in a complex environment with multiple entities.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial statement preparation, consolidations and general ledger accounting
• Experience preparing or reviewing financial reporting for executive leadership and private equity ownership.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to getting things done.
