Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Experience supervising, mentoring, or leading accounting staff.
  • Strong understanding of general ledger, AP, AR, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and complex accounting environments.
  • CPA preferred but not required.
  • Backgrounds in financial services, distribution, inventory-intensive businesses, retail, wholesale, real estate, transportation, or operational accounting are highly valued.

  • Support month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, and reconciliations.

Assistant Controller

Location: Berlin, CT (On-Site) - Compensation: Up to $130k (DOE)

We are partnering with a growing financial services organization to identify an Assistant Controller to join its accounting leadership team. This is a highly visible role offering the opportunity to work across multiple complex business lines while becoming a key resource for accounting, systems, data analysis, and operational decision-making.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, learning sophisticated ERP systems, partnering with operations, and making a meaningful impact beyond traditional accounting responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and support to an accounting team of approximately eight professionals
  • Support month‑end and year‑end close, financial reporting, and account reconciliations
  • Develop expertise in the company’s ERP system and operational accounting processes
  • Analyze large financial and operational data sets to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities
