Job summary

PulteGroup Minnesota is seeking an entry-level Construction Manager trainee to join our project teams and support field operations. You will rotate through departments, learn scheduling, safety, and quality standards while building practical construction knowledge.

You will develop skills in plan reading, building codes, and coordinating trade partners to keep projects on schedule and within quality expectations. This role emphasizes growth within a Fortune 500 homebuilder.

Qualifications

  • University degree or equivalent experience (0–2 years of relevant experience).
  • Proven ability to read blueprints and communicate effectively.
  • General knowledge of building codes and municipal permitting preferred.
  • Basic computer literacy and familiarity with construction software.

Responsibilities

  • Complete Division and/or Construction Manager orientation, onboarding, and training programs (e.g., Pulte Construction Standards, scheduling, safety).
  • Develop literacy in building codes, plan reading, construction materials, schedules, and standards.
  • Monitor job sites and validate schedule progression; coordinate on-site inspections.
  • Review and understand the Customer Care service process and ensure work meets quality standards.
  • Assist in scheduling and supervision of daily trade partner activities per schedule and scope of work.
  • Monitor subdivision cleanliness and ensure trade partners maintain site cleanliness.
  • Gain understanding of Scope of Work for all trade partners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Primary Job Responsibilities
  • Complete Division and/or Construction Manager orientation, onboarding, and training programs (e.g., Pulte Construction Standards, scheduling, job site rules, safety, warranty, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan.
  • Develop literacy in building codes, construction and technical language, plan reading, construction materials, construction schedules, and construction methodologies and standards.
  • Assist other Construction Managers and/or direct supervisors in performing their duties and responsibilities, including, but not limited to:
    • Monitoring job sites
    • Validating schedule progression
    • Coordinating on-site inspections
    • Review and understand the Customer Care service process
    • Validating work is complete to quality standards and expectations
    • Coordinate the completion of work as directed by the manager
  • Gain knowledge and expertise in the utilization of Pulte systems and processes including, but not limited to, Schedule, Field Purchase Order, Dynamics 365.
  • Learn the steps and build proficiency in the Build Quality Experience and Customer Quality Experience.
  • Assist in scheduling and supervision of daily trade partner activities in accordance with job schedule and scopes of work.
  • Monitor subdivision cleanliness and hold trade partners responsible for daily clean-up.
  • Gain understanding of the Scope of Work for all trade partners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Licensing, Registration And/or Certifications
  • Valid driver’s license as driving is an essential function of this position
Physical Requirements
  • Position involves sitting, standing, driving, and/or movement, the ability to exert a minimal force of up to 50 pounds and occasionally exert up to 80 pounds of minimal force to carry, lift, push, pull, and otherwise move objects. Must be able to climb ladders, scaffolding, and other means to reach and observe all areas of the building. Ability to work in various weather conditions – heat, rain, cold, etc.
