Job summary

Essex Homes of WNY is seeking an entry-level Assistant Construction Estimator to join our western New York team. You will help develop cost estimates for semi-custom residential homes and support pre-construction activities.

You will work with design and sales to price proposals, review subcontractor bids, and maintain Buildertrend cost databases, while learning our processes and software. This full-time role includes a training program, competitive salary, benefits and a collaborative office

Qualifications

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Willingness to learn construction software applications.
• Some knowledge of residential construction materials and methods would be helpful.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Solid communication and listening skills.
• The ability to work independently and professionally in a small office environment.
• Possess the desire and ability to learn quickly and ask questions.
• Be passionate about producing timely, accurate and quality estimates.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed cost estimates for semi-custom residential home projects based on architectural plans, specifications, and design options.
• Collaborate with the design and sales team to ensure accurate pricing and timely delivery of proposals.
• Review and analyze subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure competitive and accurate pricing.
• Maintain and update cost databases within Buildertrend to reflect current market pricing and vendor rates.
• Identify and evaluate cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or design integrity.
• Provide support for budgeting, change order pricing and contract negotiations.
• Continue to build out the Buildertrend software package to improve internal efficiencies.

Essex Homes is a leading residential semi-custom home builder based in western New York. We specialize in delivering high-quality, thoughtfully designed homes with an emphasis on craftsmanship, customer service and efficiency. We are looking for an entry-level Estimator to join our dedicated team. The Estimator will play a key role in the pre-construction process, preparing accurate cost estimates for residential semi-custom homes. This is an opportunity for someone to learn our business, our processes and our software from our small group of experienced estimators. The responsibilities listed below include the type of work that you'd eventually be doing.
