Job summary

UIP Companies seeks an Assistant Community Manager in NW Washington, DC. This onsite role reports to the Community Manager/Area Manager and oversees daily apartment operations, leasing, and resident relations.

The ACM coordinates with the Community Manager to lease units, handle tenant concerns, host events, and manage office staff, while ensuring safety policies and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Valid DC Real Estate or Property Management license.
  • Four-year college degree preferred; Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
  • Four years’ experience in property management or two years with a PM designation.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Prior sales experience in leasing, retail, or related field(s).
  • Strong customer service and proactive tenant outreach.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Community Manager/Area Manager in planning and managing daily operations of apartment property.
  • Monitor and manage operational expenses within the budget.
  • Oversee tenant move-ins, move-outs, and evictions.
  • Manage rent collection, increases, late payments, and returned checks.
  • Develop leasing and marketing strategies to attract tenants.
  • Assist in interviewing, screening and hiring of new employees.
  • Train and schedule office personnel.
  • Manage inventory and ordering of department supplies and equipment.
  • Support disciplinary or promotional actions for office staff.
  • Submit all administrative forms, files and reports.
  • Coordinate with locator services for materials.
  • Provide efficient, courteous responses to resident requests.
  • Assist in resident retention programs (newsletters, referrals, events).
  • Ensure OSHA standards and safety policies are followed.

Assistant Community Manager - NW Washington, DC

Reports to: Community Manager/Area Manager

Location: NW Washington, DC

Hours: Onsite typically, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday, some Saturdays as needed

Salary: $54,000-$65,000, position is eligible for bonuses and commission

UIP Property Management (UIPPM) seeks a motivated, people-centric, and knowledgeable Assistant Community Manager (ACM). Our ACMs are leaders in their community and called upon as the individuals responsible for community operations in the absence of the Community or Area Manager, serving as role models to the rest of their team. They are multitalented, personable individuals with sales expertise and a passion for building relationships. ACMs are seasoned property management professionals with demonstrated success in providing sales, customer service, and administration leadership to the team.

In addition to traditional property management responsibilities, the ACM works in conjunction with the Community Manager/Area Manager to lease units, resolve tenant concerns, coordinate service requests, host community functions, and other administrative duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Community Manager/Area Manager in planning and managing daily operations of apartment property.
  • Monitor and manage operational expenses within the allotted budget.
  • Oversee tenant move-in, move-out, and evictions.
  • Manage financial activities for rent collection, rent increase, late payment and check returns.
  • Develop new leasing and marketing strategies to attract new tenants.
  • Assist the Community Manager/Area Manager in interviewing, screening and hiring of new employee candidates.
  • Assist the Community Manager/Area Manager in orientation, training and scheduling of all office personnel.
  • Manage the inventory and ordering of all necessary administrative supplies and equipment for the department.
  • Assist the Community Manager/Area Manager in any disciplinary or promotional recommendations with regard to all office personnel.
  • Report, maintain, and submit all administrative forms, files and reports.
  • Engage in contact with business and locator services, ensuring availability of promotional materials.
  • Provide efficient and courteous response to all resident requests.
  • Assist the Community Manager/Area Manager in designing and implementing a resident retention program, including newsletters, resident referral programs, and/or social activities.
  • Ensure that all personnel in all departments operate within OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Act) standards and company safety policies at all times.
  • Perform any other duties and/or projects, as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A valid DC Real Estate or Property Management license
  • Four-year college degree, preferred; Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school
  • Four years’ experience working in property management environment or two years’ experience working in property management with at least one property management professional designation
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Prior sales experience in leasing, retail, or other related field(s)
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills and proactive outreach to tenants, both current and prospective
  • Proven ability to work with little direction, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
  • Ability to follow-through on commitments and creatively problem-solve
  • Highly motivated investing extra energy to achieve goals and provide a great environment for team members and residents
  • Proven team player with the ability to engage others toward a common goal
  • Intermediate computer knowledge of MSOffice including Word, Excel, and Outlook; understanding of Yardi, preferred
