Job summary

Florida Travel Ball (FTB) Softball is seeking an Assistant Coach to join our Longwood, FL program. You will work with the Head Coach to run practices, develop players, and support game-day duties while promoting a competitive, family-oriented team culture.

The role emphasizes hands-on instruction and mentorship for ages 12U–18U, with travel to tournaments primarily in Florida and the Southeast. Weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

• Previous playing or coaching experience at travel, high school, or college level.
• Strong fundamentals knowledge and softball strategy.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and running practices 2–3 times per week.
• Provide hands-on instruction in hitting, fielding, pitching, catching, and baserunning.
• Support head coach during tournaments and showcases on weekends.
• Contribute to in-game coaching including base coaching and positioning.
• Mentor players on work ethic, sportsmanship, and softball IQ.
• Communicate effectively with players and parents.

Location: Longwood, FLFlorida Travel Ball (FTB) Softball is seeking a passionate and dedicated Assistant Coach to join our travel softball organization in Longwood, Florida. We’re looking for someone who can help develop young athletes both on and off the field while contributing to a competitive, family-oriented team culture.

About the Role

The Assistant Coach will work alongside the Head Coach to lead practices, support player development, and assist with game-day responsibilities. This is a great opportunity for someone who loves the game and wants to make a meaningful impact on young athletes pursuing high-level travel softball.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and running practices 2–3 times per week
• Provide hands-on instruction in hitting, fielding, pitching, catching, and baserunning
• Support the Head Coach during tournaments and showcases (weekends)
• Help with in-game coaching, including base coaching and defensive positioning
• Mentor players on work ethic, sportsmanship, and softball IQ
• Communicate effectively with players and parents

Qualifications

• Previous playing experience (college or competitive travel ball preferred)
• Prior coaching experience at the travel, high school, or college level
• Strong knowledge of fundamentals and current softball strategy
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Ability to pass a background check
• Willingness to travel to tournaments (primarily Florida and Southeast region)

Preferred

• Specialty expertise in pitching, catching, or hitting instruction
• Experience coaching ages 12U–18U
• Familiarity with the travel ball / showcase recruiting landscape

Schedule

• Weeknight practices in the Longwood area
• Weekend tournaments throughout the season

Compensation

Competitive stipend based on experience. Tournament expenses covered.
