Job summary

The College of the Holy Cross is seeking a second assistant coach to support the Head Coach across multiple facets of the program. Instruct student‑athletes on rules, fundamentals and techniques, review film, and prepare the team for competition and practice.

Emphasis on video clipping and NCAA compliance. This part-time exempt position offers 20 hours weekly from August 1, 2026 to November 30, 2026, with a Bachelor’s degree and 1–3 years coaching experience as typical requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 1–3 years coaching/instruction experience, preferably at the Division I level.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Computer and video editing skills encouraged; ability to code and evaluate film.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and team instruction on rules, fundamentals, skill attainment techniques and methods required to demonstrate satisfactory performance in a safe manner and team concepts.
  • Provide individualized coaching/tutoring/mentoring to student-athletes, including preparatory work that includes assessing student‑athlete skill attainment demonstrated during practice, competition, and in films of both practice and competition.
  • Review video of opponent performance and design individualized and team instruction for Holy Cross student‑athletes.
  • Determine specific daily practice activities that will be conducted by student‑athletes.
  • Develop instruction for individual student‑athletes and specific team needs.
  • Determine pre‑competition activities that will be conducted during days of competition.
  • Attend workshops and training sessions for the purpose of researching methods to provide student‑athletes with training and instruction on rules, fundamentals, team concepts, physical health, safety, skill attainment, conference rules and regulations.
  • Administrative duties as assigned, including but not limited to: reviewing film to present to staff and team on current and opposition, administering sport camps as directed by head coach and/or Athletics Administration.

An emphasis on film reviewing and breakdown skills, experience with clipping and editing game footage most desirable. Assistant coach must perform duties in compliance with all College, Patriot League, and NCAA rules and regulations.

Primary Responsibilities (60%)
  • Provide individual and team instruction to student‑athletes on rules, fundamentals, skill attainment techniques and methods required to demonstrate satisfactory performance in a safe manner and team concepts
  • Provide individualized coaching/tutoring/mentoring to student‑athletes, including preparatory work that includes assessing student‑athlete skill attainment demonstrated during practice, competition, and in films of both practice and competition
  • Review video of opponent performance and subsequently design individualized and team instruction for Holy Cross student‑athletes
  • Determine specific daily practice activities that will be conducted by student‑athletes
  • Develop instruction for individual student‑athletes and specific team needs

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 1‑3 years prior experience instructing and coaching, preferably at the Division I level
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations

  • Computer and video editing skills strongly encouraged, ability to code and evaluate film

Salary: $10,000

Weekly Hours: 20

Hours: 20 hour/week position from August1,2026 - November30,2026

This position is a part time, exempt level position.
