Job summary

College of the Holy Cross is seeking an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach to support student-athletes with proper technique, speed and power development, and testing protocols. You will work under the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, ensuring compliance with NCAA rules and maintaining records and equipment.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree with a master’s preferred, CSCS or SCCC certification, and 1–2 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing, instructing and supervising student athletes in strength training.
  • Provide instruction on speed and power development, mobility and flexibility.
  • Follow testing and evaluation protocols; maintain proper records.
  • Collaborate with strength and conditioning staff; assist with equipment maintenance.
  • Participate in nutrition station maintenance; attend weekly staff meetings.

Under the direction of the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, assist with all facets of strength and conditioning program, primarily by: instructing student-athletes on strength and conditioning skills and techniques, educating on strength and conditioning rules and NCAA requirements, assessing comprehension of skills, techniques and rules and providing additional instruction as appropriate, and preparing team for competition and practice. During period of appointment, this position will report to Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, and will be assigned to sport programs. Assistant coach must perform duties in compliance with all College, Patriot League, and NCAA rules and regulations.

Primary Job Responsibilities
  • Assist in designing, instructing and supervising student athletes in the following:
  • Proper techniques of strength training movements
  • Speed and power development
  • Testing and evaluation protocols
  • Mobility and flexibility methods
  • Collaborate with strength and conditioning staff
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of proper records and databases
  • Assist in all operations and maintenance of strength and conditioning equipment
  • Assist in all facets of nutrition station maintenance
  • Take part in weekly strength and conditioning staff meetings
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification (CSCS) or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC)
  • 1-2 Years prior experience in strength and conditioning, preferably at the collegiate level
  • Basic computer skills with Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills required

Contract and Salary

This is a 10 hour per week position which runs from September 1, 2026 through April 30, 2027. The salary for this position is between $8,000 - $10,000 commensurate with experience. Weekly Hours: 0 Annual Work Schedule:
