Job summary

Poudre School District is seeking an athletic coach to support middle school teams by teaching fundamentals and advanced skills while upholding PSD guidelines. The role involves assisting the head coach, supervising student athletes, and communicating expectations to families.

This ongoing position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, coaching experience, and certifications (CPR/First Aid/AED). Training on concussion, safety, and reporting is completed upon hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous coaching experience in the sport strongly preferred.
• Must have expertise in the fundamental skills, rules, and schemes pertaining to the sport.
• Criminal background check required for hire.
• CPR, First Aid and AED certifications required before coaching assignment begins.
• Complete required trainings upon hire: Concussion, Blood Borne Pathogens, Child Abuse and Reporting, and Sexual Harassment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach with practice sessions to develop sport skills and sportsmanship with student athletes.
• Help supervise student athletes before, during, and after all school sanctioned events; ensure student safety.
• Attend and monitor practices and games.
• Communicate expectations to athletes and parents about practice schedules, games, academics, respect, and sportsmanship.
• Follow PSD guidelines.
• Assist with equipment inventory and security.
• Assist with equipment maintenance, locker-room supervision, and extra practices.
• Communicate discipline procedures and safety concerns to Head Coach and Athletic Director.
• Demonstrate fairness and consistency in all decisions and judgments related to sport participants.
• Adhere to district guidelines for building use and field access; manage reservations and care of facilities.
• Attend work and arrive on time.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Previous coaching experience in the sport strongly preferred

Expertise in fundamental skills, rules, and schemes of the sport
