Job summary

Poudre School District in Fort Collins is seeking an Athletic Coach assistant to support the Head Coach of a middle school team. You will teach fundamentals and advanced skills while adhering to district guidelines.

This role involves supervising athletes, coordinating practice sessions and communicating expectations to students and parents, with emphasis on safety, sportsmanship, and teamwork; requires high school diploma and CPR/First Aid.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous coaching experience preferred.
• Expertise in fundamental skills, rules, and schemes of the sport.
• Criminal background check required for hire.
• CPR, First Aid and AED certification required before coaching assignment begins.
• Complete trainings upon hire: Concussion, Blood Borne Pathogens, Child Abuse and Reporting, and Sexual Harassment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach with practice sessions to best develop sport skills and sportsmanship with student athletes in the sport.
• Help supervise student athletes prior to, during, and after all school sanctioned events; ensure student safety at all times and make sure student athletes are equipped for safety.
• Attend and monitor practices and games.
• Assist with communicating to athletes and parents student athlete expectations including practice schedules and games, as well as academic performance, respect, commitment, dedication, and sportsmanship.
• Follow all Poudre School District guidelines.
• Assist with inventory and security of equipment and supplies.
• Assist with equipment maintenance, locker-room supervision, and extra practices.
• Communicate discipline procedures and problems, safety concerns and all student injuries requiring emergency medical services to school Head Coach and Athletic Director.
• Demonstrate fairness and consistency in all decisions and judgments related to the sport participants.
• Adhere to district guidelines for building use and field access, including following procedures for reservations, access, and care of district facilities.
• Attend work and arrive in a timely manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
