Job summary

Paterson Public Schools is seeking three assistant coaches for boys basketball for the Dec 1, 2026 - March 8, 2027 season. Applicants must hold a New Jersey Teacher's Certificate or Substitute Teacher Certificate, with proof of experience for substitutes.

CPR/AED Certification is mandatory, and annual renewal of concussion and heat acclimatization certificates is required. Coaching experience is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• New Jersey Teacher's Certificate or Substitute Teacher Certificate required; proof of experience for substitute holder.
• Coaching experience preferred but not required.
• Must be available daily during the winter sports season.
• CPR and AED certification required; current certificates held.
• Must obtain Concussion Awareness and Wellness certificate or equivalent, renewed annually.
• Must obtain Heat Acclimatization Awareness and Wellness certificate or equivalent, renewed annually.
• One year to complete a 'Sports First Aid' course after hire.
• Budget availability may affect postings.

Responsibilities

• Assist head coach in boys basketball practices and games.
• Support planning and execution of season drills and conditioning.
• Aid in student-athlete supervision and safety during activities.

Staff Needed: Three (3) Assistant Coaches for Boys Basketball

Qualifications

• New Jersey Teacher's Certificate OR Substitute Teacher Certificate; proof of experience required for substitute certificate holder
• Coaching experience preferred, but not required
• Must be available daily during the WINTER sports season
• Must be certified in CPR and AED, and holding a current certificate in both
• Must obtain a "Concussion Awareness and Wellness" certificate or its equivalent, renewed annually
• Must Obtain a "Heat Acclimatization Awareness and Wellness" certificate or it's equivalent, renewed annually.
• All new coaches will have one year after being hired to successfully complete a course in "Sports First Aid".
• Meet such alternatives to above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable
